Dr. Guzman has been an attending Vascular Surgeon at St. Boniface Hospital for over 25 years. He is the current Head of the Vascular Surgery Program and Professor at the University of Manitoba as well as the Regional Lead of Vascular Surgery for the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.
Dr. Guzman is a graduate of the University of Manitoba (Medicine, General Surgery and Vascular Surgery) with Postgraduate Vascular training in Seattle, Washington. He has had extensive involvement with education and administration. He has been previous Program Director for the Vascular Surgery Program at the University of Manitoba. He was previous Chair of the Examination Committee and current Chair of the Vascular Surgery Specialty Committee at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Dr. Guzman is the current Regional Advisory Committee Chair for Region 2 and also sits as a Member of the Council for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He was past President of the Canadian Society for Vascular Surgeons as well as for the Manitoba Chapter of the American College of Surgeons. He currently serves as the Governor for the Manitoba Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.
At St. Boniface Hospital Dr. Guzman has had numerous administrative roles including past President of Medical Staff Council and previous Director of Clinical Research at the Asper Research Centre. He is Chair of the Promotions Committee for the Department of Surgery at the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba and has also served at Site Lead for the Department of Surgery at St. Boniface Hospital for over 10 years.
